Job Purpose:

  • The Village Recreational Services Specialist is responsible for assisting the operational delivery of the Athletes’ Village (AVL) Recreational Centres and Entertainment programme.
    The Village Recreational Services Specialist will manage a team consisting of contractors and volunteers. They will liaise with both internal and external service partners to deliver world class recreational facilities and a varied entertainment programme, and will ensure services are consistently issue free.

Key responsibilities

Key Objectives:

  • Manage the Games time operation of the Village Recreational facilities including TV lounges, internet area and games rooms
  • Assist in the coordination of the fit-out and delivery of recreational facilities
  • Facilitate the integration of sponsor products and services into the Recreational Centres
  • Work alongside Resident Centres teams to manage shared spaces
  • Assist in the management of a varied daily entertainment programme for the AVL that reflects the different cultures and traditions of Azerbaijan and Europe
  • Manage contracted entertainers on a day to day basis to ensure world class delivery
  • Train, and motivate a team of volunteer staff, including appropriate breaks and any roster changes
  • Complete daily reports
  • Assist in the management of ad-hoc events as required
  • Responsibilities of this role will evolve during the lifespan of the Operation Committee and it is likely that the role profile will evolve with the changing needs of The Games

Key accountabilities:

  • Ensure the Village Recreational and Entertainment operations are delivered at a premium level and according to the Host City Contract and the EOC Guidelines
  • Ensure integration of all Functions (FAs) within the AVL by maintaining clear regular communication channels
  • Ensure adherence to AVL and Baku 2015 wide policies while maintaining a high level of customer service
  • Responsible for managing the expectations of different stakeholders
  • Responsible for Games-time management and troubleshooting of client needs

Knowledge:

  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced, multi-level, project based environment with emphasis on timelines and delivery
