Job Description:

  • All machinery and technical equipment during his watch.
  • Responsible for main and auxiliary engines, purifiers and boilers.
  • Supervise and follow up engine crew on same watch and/or daytime.
  • Carry out 2. Engineer’s duties in line with International standards laid down in IMO’s rules and legislation’s and according to “Good seamanship’’
  • Good maintenance, housekeeping, orderliness and cleanliness in the engine room.
  • Keep “Engine Logbook” and “Oil Logbook” updated as applicableş
  • Update “Maintenance and spare program” as necessary.
  • Consumption of spare parts: Enter in “Maintenance and Spare Part Program” 
  • Maintenance and repair work done: Enter in “Maintenance and Spare Part Program”
  • Administrate and supervise Scheduled jobs to be carried out accordingto “Maintenance and Spare Program”.
  • Weekly tests of boiler and cooling water and keep a log of results.
  • Weekly check of the emergency diesel.
  • Weekly and daily check according to chief engineers standing ordersResponsible for all machinery and technical equipment on board during his watch.
  • Faults to be corrected at once. 
  • If any doubt, call chief engineer.
  • Comply fully the requirements in the Company’s SMS,national as well as internationals rules and legislation’s and other precautions currently valid on board.
  • According to “Emergency Plan”: MEDIVAC, OIL pollution, FF, MOB, Abandon shipActively take part in HSE meetings and programs, Non-conformities reporting, Safety Observation reports etc.
