General

The Operations Manager is responsible for supervising field operations, the operational systems, processes and policies in support of organizations mission. The Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in long-term operations planning, including initiatives geared toward operational excellence. The Operations Manager supervises, schedules, and safely executes field operations. Additionally, the Operations Manager is responsible for achieving the production targets in a safe manner at the estimated expenditure. The Operations Manager provides regular reports to senior management to show the efficient performance of the site within the budget in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the high level point of contact with Field Operations on O&M issues and ensure O&M coordination is effective (O&M interface and coordination); 
  • Ensuring achievement of the production targets through optimal up time and operating efficiency of plant and equipment; (System Reliability);
  • Liaise with the production team in the forecasting, planning and delivering of product volumes; (Integrating Planning and Scheduling)
  • Developing new strategies to increase production with safe and cost-efficient methods. Ensuring that adequate safety norms are used by site personnel; (Operations and Maintenance Strategy)
  • Monitor/Maintain awareness of operating reliability of projects post execution to provide feedback for future designs (System Reliability);
  • Develop and manage OPEX budget and operational expenses, oversee proposal development bid packages and subcontractor agreements. Provide cost and risk management;
  • Develop a set of common tools and procedures to govern work and utilize common tools and procedures (Procedures and Tools);
  • Building ongoing relationships with key members and functional managers within the organization; (Interface Management)
  • Managing the commissioning and startup of new projects and plant modifications to ensure compliance with standards, specs and contract terms and conditions;
  • Managing field production assets to ensure optimum exploitation and administrating the resources to operate and maintain all surface facilities to ensure optimum availability of production in a safe and environmental friendly manner;
  • Provide a view of the balance of long-term operating costs vs. near term capital costs on project decisions (Long-term Strategy);
  • Directing the planning and execution of maintenance & major shutdowns and approving plans, tender packages, bid evaluation, and recommending contract awards as appropriate;
  • Effectively maintaining internal and external communications with a broad variety of engineering disciplines and management;(Interface Management)
  • Provide vision, inspire innovation and motivation within the technical operating departments;
  • Counsel, guide and motivate personnel to achieve both individual and the strategic objectives of the Company.  Develop the necessary training programmes and provide career development opportunities in order to maintain a strong Company based technical capability;
  • Establish and maintain the agreed level of liaison, co-ordination and specific reporting to Companies’ Executive Director;
  • Provide input to Commercial/Financial group on KPIs (Performance Management)
  • Proactively participate in Company Health, Safety, and Environmental commitments;  

 

Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of oil and gas field procedures and practices;
  • Ability to build, manage and foster a team-oriented environment;
  • Influential and leadership skills; driving continual improvements and engaging with numerous different business internal and external business entities;
  • Well-developed technical understanding of all phases of a gas producing asset from subsurface to pipelines to processing; 
  • Excellent problem solving abilities;
  • Excellent command on computer operations is essential;
  • Commercial experience dealing with domestic and international supply contracts;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; adept at interaction with variety of contacts, including peers within a multi-disciplinary team, management, vendors and industry partners;
  • Degree in Petroleum Engineering or related Engineering field with 20+ years of professional experience of which 10 must have been in operations leadership roles;
  • Fluent in both written and verbal English, and Azeri, Russian a plus.
