Job Summary The metal production company is looking for an experienced Lead Piping and HVAC Engineer to oversee the piping and ductwork design scope for one of their projects. Roles & Responsibilities 1.Technical Leadership and Team Management: -Serve as the technical lead for all piping, pipe stress analysis, material selection, and HVAC/ducting aspects of the project. -Lead, mentor, and manage a team of piping engineers and designers, defining work scopes, assigning priorities, and ensuring the quality and adherence to schedules for all deliverables. -Act as the primary interface between the Piping/HVAC discipline and other project teams (Process, Mechanical, Civil/Structural, I&C), ensuring optimal routing, support, and integration of all systems. 2.Design, Engineering, and Equipment Selection: -Oversee the detailed design of complex industrial piping networks, including high-temperature gas lines, water systems, utility lines, and slurry transport. -Direct the design and specification of large-bore ductwork for process gases (e.g., off-gas, reformer gas) and ensure the appropriate design and selection of HVAC systems for control rooms, substations, and other critical buildings. -Supervise and approve critical pipe stress analysis (using software like Caesar II or equivalent) for high-temperature/high-pressure lines, and manage the design of pipe supports and hangers. -Guide the selection of piping materials, valves, and specialty items, ensuring compatibility with the harsh process fluids, temperature ranges, and pressures typical of DRI/HBI installations, -Oversee the 3D model (e.g., using SmartPlant 3D, PDMS, or PDS) development for optimal pipe routing, equipment placement, and constructability, resolving clashes and space constraints. 3. Project Execution and Standards: -Ensure the timely and accurate generation, review, and approval of all piping and HVAC deliverables, including piping specifications, line lists, material take-offs (MTOs), isometrics, and plot plans. -Ensure all designs and installations strictly comply with international piping codes (ASME B31 series, API, etc.), local regulations, and project safety standards. -Provide expert engineering support to the construction team to resolve field queries and non-conformances. Lead pre-commissioning verification and punch-listing of installed piping and ducting systems. 4.Technical Leadership: - Lead troubleshooting efforts for process deviations, equipment failures, and quality issues. - Provide technical guidance to operations, maintenance, and quality control teams.
